Serene Outdoor Artisans was founded in 2008, not from a plan to start a landscaping company, but from a pursuit of craftsmanship and control over quality.

At the time, I was buying, rehabbing, and reselling real estate. I loved the transformation and strategy behind it, but I grew frustrated spending perfect days indoors rebuilding kitchens and bathrooms while outdoor spaces were treated as an afterthought. Landscaping was often rushed, outsourced, or viewed as secondary instead of intentional.

I hired a landscaper to handle exterior work. The results were acceptable for entry level projects, but when the homes demanded a higher standard, the work consistently fell short. Rather than accept that limitation, I decided to master the trade myself.

I immersed myself in landscape design, learning plant selection, placement, scale, and the natural aesthetics that make outdoor spaces feel balanced and authentic. At the same time, I applied my builder background to hardscaping, determined not just to build patios and walls, but to build them correctly, deliberately, and beautifully.

Seeking a true niche, I studied under one of the most respected names in water feature design, learning how movement, sound, and flow transform the emotional experience of a space. Water was no longer an accessory. It became a defining element. From that point forward, our work expanded beyond structures alone, blending architecture, landscape, and atmosphere into a cohesive whole.

For many years, this work was known under the name Serene Aqua. That identity was built through precision water features and remains an important part of our foundation. Over time, however, clients increasingly associated the name only with water, while the scope of our work continued to grow far beyond it.

The name Serene Outdoor Artisans reflects what the company had already become. It recognizes water as one element within a much larger discipline. It represents a broader mastery of outdoor craftsmanship, where structures, landscapes, and environments are designed and built as a complete experience rather than separate components.

The change was not a departure from our origins. It was an expansion of them. A clearer expression of our capability, our philosophy, and our direction.

Today, Serene Outdoor Artisans creates refined outdoor environments including pavilions, kitchens, structures, and landscapes designed to feel intentional, grounded, and timeless. The addition of water features is not about excess. It is about balance, presence, and calm.

This company is also built on lineage. My son, now 29, has worked alongside me since he was young, learning not just the craft, but the discipline, work ethic, and standards behind it. Together, we have built a company rooted in integrity, authenticity, and respect for each client’s vision.
